It was a beau-ti-ful day today!!
Come on Spring!!!

Happy Birthday, Macy Li !!!

personalized greetingsYep, June 30th, 2007 was a great day. My girl was born that day, or so they think. Since she was found on July 8th, 2007, they just estimated her to be about 8-9 days old, and so we go with it...Also, it was 5 months ago today that we brought her home from China! Wow, time has flown and our lives are so much richer. I'm sad that she's already this old, b/c I realize that she'll be packing up for college tomorrow. Remember I have one 18 years old, and one 18 months old. I intend to savor every single second. Happy Birthday, my precious Mingy!

Love,
Mommy

CHRISTMAS--It's A Wrap!!

Well, we're still neck-deep in wrapping paper, toys, dirty dishes, etc. around here, but I wanted to show you a few pictures from my first Christmas with my family...Mommy and Daddy probably took a few hundred, but since uploading takes forever, I just picked a few...

Here we are Christmas morning coming down the stairs to the basement, lookin' for Santa's gifts (apparently he leaves them at different places every year to "throw us off")...I really didn't know WHAT to expect, but my brothers led the way...
Here is one of Santa's elves, who is really delirious from wrapping 'til 5am!...

Nannie and Papa Kemp came by to see what Santa brought...
Sissy, Goggin, Maggie Leigh and McKenna get in on all the fun...
Havin' Christmas morning breakfast AFTER the toys!...
Oh yeah, I'm lovin' me some breakfast casserole...

After opening all those gifts, I made a call to the fat guy at the North Pole to thank him...turns out that sittin' on his lap worked out pretty good for me afterall...

I'm givin' TyTy a little pre-dinner-nibble...
Later, here we are having our annual Christmas dinner of Prime Rib, twice-baked potatoes, asparagus, salad, rolls, and Strawberry cake...Sure beats Congee!...notice that all of us are STILL in our jammies...Tater says we girls sure do a lot of squealing!

Visiting with the Baskins the day after Christmas...Mr. Don is recovering from a double lung transplant he had at Vanderbilt on July 10th. Please pray for his complete recovery!

Mama gettin' in on a little after-Christmas shoppin'...
Playing after church today...We're watching Daddy grilling our lunch through the window...
My first BBQ Rib...finger-lickin'-good, little-lady-style!!Here we are saying bye to my cousins today (Tyler is in Arkansas, duck-hunting)...

Well, that's about it for now...I had a great first Christmas!

Love,
Macy Li

Ho Ho Ho!!!

Well, now that I'm home learning all about Christmas traditions, my family saw fit to take me to the mall yesterday where they proceeded to introduce me to a custom that I'd just as soon not remember...

First, they said we were going to meet some dude named "Santa." So, I get to the mall and there's this big long line (apparently my family is not the only one who thinks this guy is important). Anyway, while I waited, they put reindeer antlers on me...

But I soon got bored with that, so they attempted to pay me off to keep me happy...

But I'm not cheap, so they thought they'd passify me with gifts...

After a while, I needed to know what all this Santa-hype was about, so Daddy took me over for a sneak peek at what I was waiting for...AND THAT'S when it all started to go downhill...

Soon, it was our turn to actually SIT on this dude's lap!!! Now, I understand that I'm not supposed to even TALK to strangers, so I didn't get it...But, Tyler and Nolan walked me right up there and sat me right down on his lap...

That's when I blew a gasket...

I didn't care WHAT he said he'd bring me, I wasn't interested! Hey, I got Mommy and Daddy for that stuff anyway!

After they'd all laughed their b*tts off at my expense, Mommy finally came and got me off his lap! (Thanks a lot for rushing right over!)

As they carried me away, still laughing, I waved "Bye Bye" as hard as I could...

Then when I finally got home, I got myself some sweet revenge!

Much more than mere shoes...

Oh yeah, that's my girl! She loves her some shoes! This morning as she was having her diaper changed, she found these shoes on the counter and commenced to working for about 20 minutes to get them on OVER her footie-pajamas!

That's when I found myself pondering the miracle that she even has shoes now, that she has on warm fleece jammies (last winter she spent all of her days outside in the sunshine b/c it was warmer out there than inside her unheated orphanage), that she woke up today in the bed of a princess, surrounded by 3 brothers fighting over who would get to her first, that she has had bananas, and eggs, and cheese, and cheerios, and yogurt, and milk, and even 2 little chocolate Christmas bells for breakfast, that her mommy and daddy are completely smitten over the air she breathes, that she has extended family, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who delight over her, that she has antibiotics for the little cold she has, that she found joy singing "LaLaLaLa" for the one-millioneth time watching Elmo this morning, that she squeezed my neck with her sweet little arms and looked into my eyes with such love as I rocked and sang to her this morning, that this year will actually be her first Christmas and most of all, that she is celebrated over by her heavenly Father, the ONE who is the Author of Adoption!!

Her bed 4 months ago...

15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
